Plasticum launches new self-closing membrane closure

back to news

Earlier this year, Plasticum launched a new dispensing closure with membrane function. Consumer convenience, such as anti-drip, and optimised functionality, such as full control, are the key challenges of this multi-purpose concept, suitable for food and personal care applications. Remia is the first customer who adopted this membrane concept. After a successful introduction of Remia’s complete new packaging line for several sauces, they marketed two other product lines with this new membrane closure.

Plasticum Group developed a proprietary silicon valve solution with a patented technique. The concept offers a fully controllable and clean dispense of e.g. sauces, honey, oil, dressing, lotions or creams. Remia, an A-brand producer of sauces and dressings, decided to integrate this membrane closure in the complete new packaging line for sauces, like mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. In May these products have been successfully introduced into the market.

Capitalising on the success of the first introduction, Remia adopted this membrane concept for two other product lines. Firstly Remia decided to replace and restyle all the existing salad dressing closures. Depending on the nature of the content, the salad dressings are now fitted with a membrane closure. Then they introduced the new valve solution to “Bak & Braad”, to roast meat. These Remia products benefit from the advantages the Plasticum membrane closure offers.

Consumers have full control when dispensing the content. After opening the closure and positioning the orifice downwards, the valve can be activated easily by squeezing the bottle. As the membrane opens gradually whilst increasing the pressure, the user has optimum dispensing control to ensure an accurate dosing of the product. As soon as the pressure is released, the orifice is closed off immediately. No drips. No mess. No clogging. An ever clean orifice is guaranteed.

The membrane closure consists only of two parts which are assembled to each other with a newly developed ultrasonic staking technique. Using this technique enables Plasticum to bring a cost effective valve solution to the market combined with improved functionality.

The dispensing closures are produced in accordance with the most stringent quality regulations at the HACCP approved factory of Plasticum Ede in The Netherlands.
